Canberra Autumn Weekend
NGA galleries, Lake Burley Griffin cycle, and a Mount Ainslie sunrise over the capital.
Canberra gets unfairly written off — until you see it in April when the entire city turns gold, and every major national institution is inside a 3km circle around the lake. Two days is enough for the galleries, the mountain sunrises and a couple of the country's best tasting menus.

- National Gallery of Australia — Jackson Pollock and the Aboriginal Memorial
- Mount Ainslie sunrise lookout over Anzac Parade
- Lake Burley Griffin cycle loop (28km, flat, bike hire at the marina)
- Floriade spring garden festival (September – October)
- Pialligo Estate farm-gate long lunch
