Margaret River Wine & Surf Weekend

Margaret River Wine & Surf Weekend

Cellar doors, limestone caves, giant karri trees and a surf check at Surfers Point.

Margaret River3h 30m from CBDBest time: Spring & autumn

Margaret River is the country's most scenic wine region — a 90km strip of karri forest, limestone coast and some of the most decorated Cabernet and Chardonnay on the planet. Three hours south of Perth it trades cellar-door rush for slow tastings, big surf and the kind of accommodation that ruins you for normal hotels.

Highlights

  • Leeuwin Estate — the region's flagship, concerts in summer
  • Vasse Felix and Cullen for Cabernet benchmarks
  • Surfers Point and Main Break surf check
  • Lake Cave or Jewel Cave limestone tours
  • Boranup Karri Forest drive — 60m tall pale-barked giants
